Though a little browner on the bottom than I'd like, these rolls OWN. Gotta work hard not to fill up on the test batch while I wait for the MAIN BATCH to rise.

Ungh so good

I am attempting to make some yeast rolls for a Thanksgiving potluck dinner. I am watching Deep Space Nine while waiting for the yeast to rise. I am drinking Diet Dr. Pepper out of a wine glass.

This is the life.

FAKE EDIT: Season 4, episode 2. Future Jake Sisko is wearing a Cosby sweater.

Three 12-hour days of production sound: +$300
One week in Utah recording sound: +$500
Repaired intake manifold in car: -$900
Finally landing some paying work only to spend all of it and more on car repairs: Priceless

If I ever seem to be in a vegetative state or a coma and no one wants to pull the plug, do me a favor - set me up in a room with a TV and DVD player and hire someone to pop in DVDs during daylight hours. Start me off with the entire runs of series I never got around to watching, like Homicide: Life on the Streets. Then move on to my Netflix list. No romantic comedies, please, or heartfelt dramas.

If I'm going to lie there unable to interact with the world but seeing and hearing everything, I am going to ENJOY myself, dammit.

I am apparently going to Utah next week to record some sound for a thesis film. I might have to drive there.

YE GODS.

I recently saw "Forgotten Silver," a Peter Jackson made-for-TV movie that I had no idea existed until I saw this Something Awful thread.

SO GOOD. So touching. A mockumentary without the mocking. Funny but never at anyone's expense (well, maybe one guy's expense, but never the main character). Just a really lovely movie.

I watched Daredevil (with Rifftrax) today. I thought this movie was bad when I was in high school, but woof. It's really, REALLY bad. Utterly without redeemable qualities. Bad in every way a movie can be bad. The Rifftrax had to work hard to keep me watching.

I should put together a list of movies that I can use as a litmus test. Not necessarily "movies about which we can agree to disagree" like Transformers or something, I'm talking about movies that are so objectively and subjectively terrible that liking it means there is something wrong with you. Daredevil would be near the top.

maybe it's just me, but "pap smear" is probably one of the grossest word combinations ever constructed by humans.

I mean, say it out loud. "PAP SMEAR." Euuugh. "Smear" is gross enough on its own, but to throw "pap" in front of it... why would a benevolent God allow such words to come into contact with one another?

DISCLAIMER: I haven't seen the new show (but I was excited to see it?) and I have only seen the first episode of the original series.

So far the reviews for the new show aren't good, but for reasons that seem to be along the lines of "The new show isn't exactly like the old show in every tiny detail, IT SUCKS!"

Is there anyone who has seen the new show but HASN'T seen the old one (or at least isn't a 'spergin neckbeard about a frankly quite underwhelming show from the 60s)?

HEY!

You can get a free medium cheese pizza from Papa John's using promo code "PZZAFBFAN."

THE CATCH is that you either have to pay a delivery fee or add enough to get the 3.99 minimum carryout amount but either way, it's a free pizza.

Finished Mass Effect. Felt kinda short, and that's with doing whatever side-mission popped up.

Thoughts:

*Wrex owns.

what's this, an SVU episode guest starring Robin Williams?

i will liveblog as I watch the episode on Netflix

* PETE HORNBERGER, you get out of this show this instant.
* I love these "ripped from the headlines" episodes.
* Pete Hornberger is sad and Richard Belzer is awesome.
* Why is it that every alias used in a Law and Order show is some kind of clever reference? Do humans in the Law and Order universe not know how to come up with a fake name on the spot?

okay i am done liveblogging, gonna watch the show, peace

* I LIED. haha I can't believe they copied the "phoning the references" thing from Mrs. Doubtfire, oh my god

Deep Discount is having a big-ass 40% off everything sale. Tons of cheap DVDs with free shipping. I've had nothing but good experiences with them, so if you're looking to pick up some movies on the cheap, this is the place and now is the time.

I have a sneaking suspicion that someone has begun stealing Netflix envelopes out of our apartment building's "outgoing mail" box.

Hope you enjoy that Deep Space Nine Season 3 Disc 3, whoever you are.
